Luke Skywalker hatches a plan to save his friend, Han Solo, from the clutches of Jabba the Hutt. Leia Organa, disguised as a bounty hunter, goes into Jabba’s palace and frees Han from the carbonite, but they are caught before they can leave. Luke shows up soon after and kills Jabba’s pet rancor in the dungeon. For this, he and Han are to be put to death in the Sarlaac pit. However, Luke gets his lightsaber and creates a distraction while Leia strangles Jabba. They all make it out alive. Then, they must deal with the Empire. Luke must fight his father, Darth Vader, one last time. Meanwhile, the others have to fight the Empire on Endor and in space. This last battle will decide the fate of the Rebellion....

Goofs:
Revealing mistakes: In the speeder-bike chase sequence, several shots are flipped so that Luke's black glove changes repeatedly from his right hand (where it should be) to his left hand. (more)

Trivia:
The first appearance of the Death Star was originally supposed to be in this episode. Lucas changed the Death Star in this movie to the Death Star Two after having been forced to introduce the Death Star in the first STAR WARS movie due to budget cuts imposed by the studio. (more)
