District Attorney Anne Osborne (Ellen Barkin) is sent to News Orleans to investigate corruption within the police department. There she meets the charismatic and cocky Detective Remy McSwain (Dennis Quaid). An uneasy tension forms between the two as Remy investigates the murder of a local drug dealer and Anne investigates him. Anne soon discovers that Remy has been accepting bribes but proving it isn't easy. Add in Remy's fellow police officers Jack and Andre (Ned Beatty and John Goodman) who resent the beautiful outsider sticking her nose in their city and there's bound to be trouble. Set against the backdrop of quaint New Orleans, action, intrigue, and romance naturally follows....
