Clint Reno (Elvis Presley) stays at home while his brother Vance (Richard Egan) fights in the U. S. Civil War on the Confederate side. Vance is reported dead in battle. Clint then marries Vance’s old girlfriend, Cathy (Debra Paget). But Vance returns home alive after all, causing some tension within the family since both brothers love Cathy. Vance is also a train robber and has stolen some money belonging to the Federal Government, but he wants to return it although other Confederates don’t want him to. Clint and Vance end up in a gunfight which takes the life of one of these brothers....

Elvis Presley was later offered to star in director Robert D. Webb’s another film called The Way to the Gold (1957), but Fox refused to pay the $250,000 plus 50 percent of the profits that Elvis' manager asked (they had offered $150,000 plus 50 percent). (more)
