Set before “Raiders of the Lost Ark”, the film opens with Indiana Jones (Harrison Ford) bargaining for a large diamond in a nightclub in Shanghai. The deal goes sour when the head bad guy poisons Indy and holds the nightclub singer, Willie (Kate Capshaw) hostage. A fight breaks out between Indy and the bad guys, and Indy manages to find the antidote for the poison, drink it, and save Willie during the chaos. They escape out the window to a car driven by Indy’s sidekick, Short Round (Jonathan Ke Quan), and all three escape the country on a plane. Unfortunately, the plane is piloted by a bad guy who sabotages the plane and takes the only parachute. Indy and his companions survive through some resourcefulness, and end up in a village where Indy is recruited to find some stones that protect the village and the children that were abducted with the stones.
