1787. HMS Bounty sets out on a journey that will take it through perilous seas to a tropical paradise... and into history as one of the most ill-fated vessels ever to sail for King and country.

Lewis Milestone (All Quiet on the Western Front) directed this color-drenched spectacular nominated for seven Academy Awards® including Best Picture. Filmed before in 1935 and again in 1984's The Bounty, the gripping story centers around two men. Marlon Brando plays first officer Fletcher Christian as a dandy transformed into a man of action. Trevor Howard is Capt. William Bligh, uncompromising in his command of his cruelty. "Fear is [my] best weapon," Bligh proclaims. But it's also the most costly, driving men to desperation and mutiny. Richard Harris, Hugh Griffith and Richard Haydn also star in this epic adventure....

Notes
Goofs:
Factual errors: The burning of the Bounty at Pitcairn's Island wasn't the result of one man deciding to destroy it. It was the general consensus of most of the mutineers that the ship be burned because there was no way to conceal it, and they didn't want passing ships to be able to identify their island. It was certainly not done without Christian's knowledge (it was actually his idea). (more)

Quotes:
Captain Bligh: I wonder why an alleged gentleman should give his first loyalty to ordinary seamen.
Fletcher Christian: Instead of to other alleged gentlemen?
Captain Bligh: Impertinence noted. It shall be logged. Do you care to enlarge the entry?
Fletcher Christian: Yes, only with this observation, which I will report to the Admiralty in any case: in my years of service I have never met an officer who inflicted punishment upon men with such incredible relish. Sickening.
Captain Bligh: Then go and be sick in your cabin, Mr Christian. I have never met a naval officer who was so proud of a weak stomach.
