"A Thunderous Spectacle The Patriot Packs A Wallop." -Peter Travers, ROLLING STONE

In the emotionally-charged adventure The Patriot, Academy Award®-winner Mel Gibson stars as Benjamin Martin, a reluctant hero who is swept into the American Revolution when the war reaches his home and threatens his family.

A hero of the fierce French and Indian conflict, Martin had renounced fighting forever to raise his family in peace. But when the British arrive at his South Carolina home and endanger what he holds most dear, Martin takes up arms alongside his idealistic patriot son, Gabriel (Heath Ledger of 10 Things I Hate About You), and leads a brave rebel Militia into the battle against a relentless and overwhelming English army. In the process, he discovers the only way to protect his family is to fight for a young nation's freedom....

Trivia:
The character, Benjamin Martin, was originally written with six children, but Mel Gibson added one more because he himself had seven children. (more)

Goofs:
Miscellaneous: In the scene where the British raid Charlotte's plantation, Tavington looks under the tablecloth to see if anyone is hiding under the table. At this time, Nathan is hiding on the outside of the table on the right side. The tablecloth hangs several inches from the floor, so Tavington should have easily seen Nathan hiding on the other side the tablecloth through the gap between the tablecloth and the floor. (more)

Quotes:
Miss Anne Howard/ Mrs. Anne Martin: You know who I am Gabriel Martin. The last time you saw me i was 11 and you put ink in my tea.
Gabriel Edward Martin: [Uneasy] Surely it was one of my younger brothers. Perhaps Samuel or Nathan.
Miss Anne Howard/ Mrs. Anne Martin: It was you. And it turned my teeth black for a month.
