Adding FANART to your Detail
Pages
Complete
Package
with latest revisions
The below image show a detail page for
the TV MiniSeries John Adams. Notice it
has a black background. This background can be changed in the Export program,
...
but whatever background you chose will be present for ALL detail pages.

What if we wanted to have a separate background image (fanart) for each Detail
page?
Below shows a detail page that we've added fanart to.

So how is it done? Well first of all you need to download the latest
MJ100_Detail.xsl file that has
the SHOWFANART option turned on!
MJ100_Detail.zip
Download the above file and extract it to your templates folder.
After the next export, the program will
look for a jpg image that resides in the Resources folder of the PCH,
that has the same name as the Title of the Movie or TV Series. For example, if
we
have the Mini Series John Adams , then the fanart file the program will look for
is
John Adams.jpg.
A good place on the internet to look for
fanart is www.thetvdb.com
It's ok to use full color images for your fanart (1280 x 720
res only), but it may make the
details page hard to read.

As you can see, the above page with full
color background is somewhat unreadaable. Here's what I've done to
make the images so that the foreground text is still easy to read.

First of all download the fanart image,
.. and edit it in photoshop, or other image editing program.
Then, .. Click on IMAGE, MODE, GREYSCALE to change the image from color to
greyscale.

Next Click "CNTRL L" to bring up the
LEVELS window. Move the Output level down
to about 50% (130) Click OK, then save the file with the correct filename.
Copy the image to the Resources folder of the PCH and you're done!
(Note:: when you're making your fanart
images to put in the Resources folder of the PCH, .. you should
open Movie Collector, and then edit the movie you're adding fanart for and look
at the title. If the title
has special characters or a Title Extension entry, these will have to be
changed. Ie, ...
if the title in Movie Collector shows as John Adams: The Complete Series, then
it must be changed to
either John Adams, or John Adams The Complete Series. as no special characters
are allowed.
Also, if you have a show Sex And The City.... then the filename needs to be
Sex And The City.jpg, ... and not Sex and the City.jpg. You have
to pay particular attention
to the wording an exact spelling of the Title.
Also note, that once you're turned ON the
showfanart variable by either downloading the
modified MJ100_Detail.xsl file (or edited your original) then the Detail image
setting in the export
will no longer be used. If the export sees no fanart for a particular movie,
..then the background
will be all black.
Below shows how to turn on/off the showfanart option. Just change the variable
to say either YES or NO
whichever you prefer.

Below are some more examples!!!

Although
all of my hobby software is free, the time and effort that has gone into this
endeavor has been fairly heavy. I estimate more than a thousand hours have gone
into development, answering emails, webpage maintenance and finding servers
willing to host it all!
So, I am now asking for donations from anyone who is willing to help. I am not
going to ask for a specific amount as I appreciate that people have differing
financial resources, just whatever you feel that you value the software. If you
do Donate I guarantee to personally answer via email any questions that you
have.
I want to be clear - the software is FREE and if you feel you should not (or
cannot) donate or have any reason why you would rather not donate - that's
perfectly fine. However, a $? general donation will go a long way to helping
keep my software available for as long as possible. So go ahead and download my
software - use it all you like. If you feel you got $? worth of use out of any
of it and wish to contribute please press the Donate button.
