Scenario #3 - VOB files

A hard drive on out PC (G:\); with "vob" movie files stored in a folder labeled by the name of the movie,... which is inside the folder labeled "Movies" ... ie,.  if we have the movie TheGodfather. the folder tree will be G:\Movies\TheGodfather\VIDEO_TS\VIDEO_TS.IFO. Here, each movie will be stored in a folder "under Movies" labeled with the name of the movie, ie, .. inside the Movies folder will be many folders, .. one for each movie in our collection.

The first step is to share the folder that holds the movies on your network. folder is.

AS soon as you Click on this folder, the movie should play, because of VOB files.
(Note: When you press the Source button, and navigate to a movie 'manually',
and start it playing, this is what's called manually "Mounting the Share"

The next step is to enter the movie link into the Movie Collector. We've already
went over the steps to add a movie link, which is Edit the movie, go to the
Links tab, and add the movie file.

BUT, ... for VOB files, when you first Click ADD MOVIE FILE be sure
to Click on Files of type: and change it to DVD (*.vob,*.ifo)

uac1.png

Now, navigate to the G:\Movies\TheGodfather\VIDEO_TS folder

is G:\Movies\  (don't forget the trailing backslash and remember this is
case sensitive, so type in everything exact) You can also browse to find the folder
which is the best bet.

WAIT A MINUTE!!!  How come we didn't type in the folder TheGodfather after Movies\??

Well, we could have, and it would work, BUT, ... this would mean that you would
have to make a different Share for each and every Movie that you have in VOB format.

Soooo, ... all we want to do here, is make the share for the Movies folder, ...
then in the Movie Links section of the Movie Collector, we specify the rest....
TheGodfather\VIDEO_TS\VIDEO_TS.IFO.

This way, we can have one share, pointing to Movies, .. with each movie having it's own
folder under Movies.       And, we'll do the same for the NMT location:

Next, we have to find the  NMT location.  Click on the LOCATOR button,
.. type in the IP Address of the PCH, and you'll see the shares for your Popcorn.

uac1.png

Highlight the third line with your mouse, then Right-Click, then Click on COPY.
Click OK to close the LOCATOR box. Now Click on the NMT box, then
Right-Click, then Click on PASTE. You'll now have the proper
entries for movies located in the G:\Movies folder of your PC., ... which
will be played by your Popcorn on your TV screen.

uac1.png

In order to verify that the correct information got entered into the html files..

Use Windows Explorer to navigate over to where the html files got exported to,
and Dbl-Click on the index.htm file. You'll see your main menu come up.

movie file, in this case 1458.htm, then Click on Edit. Page down until you find
the play button. If everything is good, you'll see the H ref statement as
shown below!! Congrats! you just did a SMB share with VOB files!

Open Windows Explorer and navigate to the folder G:\Movies.  Right-Click on the folder in the left pane, then Left-Click on Sharing and Security. A window will appear as shown below. Now, .Click on the box to select Share this folder on the network. Windows will fill in the name, which is Movies. Click OK.

uac1.png

uac1.png

You should now be able to play the movie!!!
(Note: When you press the Source button, and navigate to a movie 'manually',
and start it playing, this is what's called manually "Mounting the Share"

The next step is to enter the movie link into the Movie Collector. We've already
went over the steps to add a movie link, which is Edit the movie, go to the
Links tab, and add the movie file.

uac1.png

BUT, ... for iso files, when you first Click ADD MOVIE FILE be sure
to Click on Files of type: and change it to All Files (*.*)

uac1.png

Our movie is now added, .... G:\Movies\TheGodfather.iso

Now go run the Export program, and Click on the Media Location Variables tab.

uac1.png

In the first PC location, we type in the folder location of our movie, which
is G:\Movies\  (don't forget the trailing backslash and remember this is

entries for movies located in the G:\Movies folder of your PC., ... which
will be played by your Popcorn on your TV screen.

uac1.png

Finish the export to send the html files over to your PCH's hard drive, or other location.

In order to verify that the correct information got entered into the html files..

Use Windows Explorer to navigate over to where the html files got exported to,
and Dbl-Click on the index.htm file. You'll see your main menu come up.
Find the movie The Godfather, Click on the Movie Cover. After the details file
opens, you can read the file name in the upper left corner of your
Explorer Window., as below.

uac1.png

Next, Close this out, and navigate to the Details folder, and then Right-Click on the
movie file, in this case 1458.htm, then Click on Edit. Page down until you find
the play button. If everything is good, you'll see the H ref statement as
shown below!! Congrats! you just did a SMB share with iso files!

uac1.png

So, ..... what if you do all this and it STILL doesn't work? Well, for one thing, you could have a bad NMT, and need to send it back, .... but, most likely, either something got 'hosed up' when you added the SMB share in the beginning, .. or maybe you forgot to check the firmware
to see if an update is available for your unit. to do this, using your remote, Click on Setup, .. then Click on Maintenance, .. then Click on Check for Firmware Update, .. and follow the instructions.

The best bet is to first check for a firmware update, ... then go to the Network Share menu, EDIT your SMB share, ... then Click on REMOVE., EXit out of that menu, . then unplug your NMT and then power it back on again. When it powers up, ...repeat the setup process!

Yes, at times this can be tedious, .. but remember, once you get it right the first time,
you never have to worry about it again,.... just add another movie in Movie Collector,
then when you run the Export program, .. it remembers all the information
from the previous export!
