My Lil Movie JukeBox Maker!  (revision6)

APPENDIX 3.  ... For Advanced Users
My Lil Movie Jukebox    FILTERS!!

I've been getting quite few emails from users asking for a version of "My Lil Movie Jukebox" that allows for the user to make up and export their own Genres (Filters). They also wanted to be able to key in the names for these Genres, ie., for
German, French, etc .

Sooooooo, ... here it is! (Note: this section is NOT for beginners!)

STEP 1:  Make sure you have run the Movie_Jukebox_SETUP_123108.exe setup program. which will install the filters below.

STEP 2:  Run the Movie Collector software program. You now have to setup your filters  for exporting over to the PCH. Open up the window to Create/Modify Filters. As shown below, you have 20 Filters that you can make, that the My Lil Movie Jukebox (GC) software will export for you. The filters must be named starting with "101" thru "120", followed by a "space", then followed by whatever wording you choose. These labels are NOT the wording that will get exported over to the Jukebox. (that comes later) They do not have to be in order either.

So, setup these filters however you wish, .. and label them appropriately. (do not forget the xxx prefix followed by a space)

note: all I did above was to use the filters from the standard rev4, and then just edited
each filter name to add the 101, etc ... at the beginning!

NOTE: with revision 5, you also have a filter named 100, which is the ALL MOVIES filter.
and, as you can see from the above screen, the 100 filter has
TITLE NOT EQUAL to "blank"
which means ... ALL MOVIES   :)

but, should you desire, you can change this filter to prevent some of your movies from
being exported over to your NMT. You could, for example, change this to be
ANY FIELD NOT EQUAL to Elvis Presley which would send all movies over to your index file
on the NMT, EXCEPT Elvis Presley movies.

STEP 3. If you made any changes to your filters in Moc, .. then when you run the Export program, you'll have to  also make changes to the Filter / Genres tab.

A WALK THRU example:

Suppose that we wanted to make a change to the standard filters. We don't have any James Bond movies, but we do have alot of Elvis Presley movies. Let's change the filters to replace the BOND filter with the ELVIS filter.

Open the Moc program, Click SEARCH, SET FILTER, Create / Modify Filters, and you'll see the filters screen below:

Click on the 119 Bond filter and let's change it.
Change the Field Value to be Elvis Presley.
Changes made! (note, I made a mistake on the spelling, .. but I figure it out later and change it!)
Next, we need to rename the Filter from 119 Bond to 119 Elvis.

NOTE: The Movie Jukebox Export program REQUIRES you to leave the
numeric labels in place, ... ie 100 ... 102,... 119 xxxx  in order to export
the filters correctly, so do NOT mess with the numbering system!
OK, Everything is changed, and we're ready to export!!!!!

Once we finish with the changes, and click OK, .. we see our Elvis Movies in the display window.
Now, let's Export our movies.  Run the My_Movie_Jukebox_EXPORT.exe program, and
CLICK on the Filters / Genres tab.

Locate the 119 Filter and change the Filter Link Name to Elvis.
Then change the Filter Page Title to read Elvis Presley Movies
and now we're done, ... and ready to export our movies. Click export.

When the export finishes, and we run the PCH, we now see our new Movie Genre in place!!!!!!   :)
Enjoy!!!

Note: After you have made your genres, and did the first export, entering all the genre names, the next time it's much much easier,  .. because if you don't change anything, .. you won't have to re-key in the genre information
as the program will remember what you entered the first time through!!   :)

---- PLEASE DONATE ---

Although all of my hobby software is free, the time and effort that has gone into this endeavor has been fairly heavy. I estimate more than a thousand hours have gone into development, answering emails, webpage maintenance and finding servers willing to host it all!

So, I am now asking for donations from anyone who is willing to help. I am not going to ask for a specific amount as I appreciate that people have differing financial resources, just whatever you feel that you value the software. If you do Donate I guarantee to personally answer via email any questions that you have.

I want to be clear - the software is FREE and if you feel you should not (or cannot) donate or have any reason why you would rather not donate - that's perfectly fine. However, a $? general donation will go a long way to helping keep my software available for as long as possible. So go ahead and download my software - use it all you like. If you feel you got $? worth of use out of any of it and wish to contribute please press the Donate button.

Comments? by all means email me at aks@iglou.com . Should you have questions about setting up your Popcorn Hour, please visit the USER APPS section of http://www.networkedmediatank.com/forumdisplay.php?fid=34 and ask your questions there. I do this part-time, ... so I'm not able to answer tech questions via email, but I will respond and answer any/all questions about the Movie Jukebox on the NMT forums.

If you DONATE, ...then I'm more than happy to answer questions via email, and I'll provide my phone number for tech support a well.
