APPENDIX
2.
Adding a "Movie File Link" to your Movie Entries..
|
|
Let's add a movie to your collection ...
(to start , just use the example collection that comes with the
program), Later on, after you have everything figured out, you can start
fresh and make your collection from scratch.
Click,
Edit, "ADD
MOVIE AUTOMATICALLY" and the "Add Movies" window will appear. (Click on "Advanced Mode")
In the upper left Title box, type in "2001:
A Space Odyssey" and then click "Add
to Queue". (We're going to search the IMDB and DVD Empire for
this movie, so we can add it to our collection - always be sure to get
the correct spelling or it won't be found)
Over on the right, Under Info Sources, you should only have IMDB and DVD
Empire checked (Use DVD Empire for high res covers, and IMDB for the
text)
Click SEARCH.
NOTE: If you're running ver 6 of MoC, ... you
won't have the ability to select various sources in the INFO SOURCES
box,... ie, you'll only import from Collectorz.com. ... but everything
else should remain the same. |
 |
| In the Search Results pane, under IMDB, place a
check beside
the movie. |
 |
| Then Click
ADD in the upper
right! and that's all there is to adding a movie to your database, |
 |
Now we have to add the "movie link" for this movie, so that when we
export this entry over to the Popcorn Hour, ... the movie will play!
Click on the Movie, then Click on
EDIT MOVIE |
 |
Click on the
LINKS TAB.
You'll see two panes. The top one is for Online Links, which we'll skip,
... and the bottom one is for LOCAL Links, .. which is what we want.
Click on the symbol to
ADD MOVIE FILE |
 |
Now, you'll browse your system, to locate your movie. In my case,
the movie in in the Video folder on Z:\ drive.
Click on your
movie file, then Click OPEN. |
 |
You'll now see the entry as shown on the right. Now we have to change the description to make it say
PLAY.Double Click on the
movie
entry. |
 |
| Now Click on the
description box, and type in PLAY. Click
OK |

NOTE: When you browse to find your movie link, .. DO NOT
use "My Network Places" to find your movie files, ... browse and find the mapped
drive letter and use that instead. ie, ... your movie link cannot look
like //pch/etc etc ... but needs to be in the form
X:\Video\etc
etc .. (see above) |
Click
OK and we're done!!!
See how easy that was?
Now all we have to do is test this "example" database out, by exporting it over to the Popcorn Hour, and see if it works!!!Once you have your complete database entered, .. you'll be able to
play any of your movies from 'inside' the Movie Collector or from inside
the Popcorn Hour. |

Once you have entered the MOVIE LINK, ... you should be
able to play this movie
from your PC by clicking on the below link. See if
you can play your movie.
(note: depending on the movie file type, .. ie mkv, etc,
... you might have to install
additional codecs on your pc) ... but, assuming
that you DO have alll the codecs in place, ...
if you can't play the movie file from here, .. on your
pc, .. then it won't play on your
Popcorn when you export the html menu files.

---- PLEASE
DONATE --- |
|
Although
all of my hobby software is free, the time and effort that has gone into this
endeavor has been fairly heavy. I estimate more than a thousand hours have gone
into development, answering emails, webpage maintenance and finding servers
willing to host it all!
So, I am now asking for donations from anyone who is willing to help. I am not
going to ask for a specific amount as I appreciate that people have differing
financial resources, just whatever you feel that you value the software. If you
do Donate I guarantee to personally answer via email any questions that you
have.
I want to be clear - the software is FREE and if you feel you should not (or
cannot) donate or have any reason why you would rather not donate - that's
perfectly fine. However, a $? general donation will go a long way to helping
keep my software available for as long as possible. So go ahead and download my
software - use it all you like. If you feel you got $? worth of use out of any
of it and wish to contribute please press the Donate button.
Comments? by all means email me at
aks@iglou.com
. Should you have questions about setting up your Popcorn Hour, please visit the
USER APPS section of
http://www.networkedmediatank.com/forumdisplay.php?fid=34
and ask your questions there. I do this part-time, ... so I'm not able to answer
tech questions via email, but I will respond and answer any/all questions about
the Movie Jukebox on the NMT forums.
If you DONATE, ...then I'm more than
happy to answer questions via email, and I'll provide my phone number for tech
support a well.
